Blog EntryWhat Do You Think?Nov 8, '08 5:44 PM
for everyone

A couple of Sundays ago our Sunday School lesson included that God does not hear the prayers of the sinner which I take to be the unsaved as we are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God.  This was based on Roman 8:7-8 and Matthew 11:28 -30.  I don't know whether I believe this or not.  After all God knows everything about us saved and unsaved - including the number of hairs on our heads - which changes several times daily when you shed hair or get snatched bald-headed as in my Mom's favorite threat "Don't make me snatch you bald-headed".  I honestly don't know.  Maybe it was meant God doesn't ANSWER the prayers of the unsaved - but what about all the times an unsaved person prays for the life of a loved one and the Lord grants a miracle which usually leads to the unsaved person converting.  Being saved since I was 12 I don't have much experience in the prayers of the unsaved as I believe God hears the prayer of the child up to the age of reckoning.  Not to say I didn't sin between then and now becasue I did - PLENTLY of times.  But I've asked for forgiveness of those sins.  Usually right after committing them and sometimes not for years as I didn't see them as sins at the time.  In fact new sins pop to mind all the time.  But back to the subject does God hear the prayers of the unsaved?  Romans 8 goes on to say that we are not of the flesh but of the spirit (after we are saved) so I assume when we sin God hears our prayers - but the unsaved was that the only prayer God hears is the prayer of contrition and repentance.  So does the Lord hear the prayers of the unsaved - I think not the everyday "I'm asking God for something" but the prayers of desperation of say the abused child, the slave, the person at the end of their rope.  We never did finish the lesson and I'd love to discuss it some more.  So what do you think?

Romans 8:7-8 (King James Version)

 7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

 8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Matthew 11:28-30

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Billy Graham's Prayer For Our Nation
     Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance.  We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,'  but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.  We have rewarded laziness and called it
>welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.  We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.  We have abused power and called  it politics.  We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.  We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.  Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!'

scripture, my own contribution.

   Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able
    to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
    Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and
    having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having
    shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace;
    besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which
    you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And
    take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
    which is the word of God.

 This is my scripture of the day.  I think it speaks for itself!

    Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let
    them say among the nations, "The Lord reigns!" Let the sea
    roar, and all that fills it, let the field exult, and
    everything in it! Then shall the trees of the wood sing for
    joy before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.

I had an interesting scripture today:

We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves; let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to edify him.    Romans 15:1-2

I wish my scripture came with a reference Bible - I'm too lazy to find mine right now!  But I think this means we should "put up with" the failings of others to lift them up.  Anyone care to throw out another meaning?

Blog EntryI have been reading...Apr 20, '08 10:57 PM
for everyone

I have been reading the Apocryphic chapters of the Bible and found this to be very good advice!

 15  In great and small matters cause no harm,e

Sirach 6
 1and do not become an enemy instead of a friend;
     for a bad name incurs shame and reproach;
         so it is with the double-tongued sinner.

 2  Do not fall into the grip of passion,a
         or you may be torn apart as by a bull.b
 3  Your leaves will be devoured and your fruit destroyed,
         and you will be left like a withered tree.
 4  Evil passion destroys those who have it,
         and makes them the laughingstock of their enemies.

Friendship, False and True

 5  Pleasant speech multiplies friends,
         and a gracious tongue multiplies courtesies.
 6  Let those who are friendly with you be many,
         but let your advisers be one in a thousand.
 7  When you gain friends, gain them through testing,
         and do not trust them hastily.
 8  For there are friends who are such when it suits them,
         but they will not stand by you in time of trouble.
 9  And there are friends who change into enemies,
         and tell of the quarrel to your disgrace.
 10  And there are friends who sit at your table,
         but they will not stand by you in time of trouble.
 11  When you are prosperous, they become your second self,
         and lord it over your servants;
 12  but if you are brought low, they turn against you,
         and hide themselves from you.
 13  Keep away from your enemies,
         and be on guard with your friends.

 14  Faithful friends are a sturdy shelter:
         whoever finds one has found a treasure.
 15  Faithful friends are beyond price;
         no amount can balance their worth.
 16  Faithful friends are life-saving medicine;
         and those who fear the Lord will find them.
 17  Those who fear the Lord direct their friendship aright,
         for as they are, so are their neighbors also.

This is the confidence we have before Him: whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

1John 5:14 - 15

To me this means that whenever we pray not my will but Thine, then he hears us and as any father wants to bless his child, how much more does Our Heavenly Father want to bless His.  Yes, I know arguments will fly that not all fathers WANT to bless their child - mine didn't.  But I knew growing up that I had a Father, better than any father could be.  So I fully trust my Father wants good things for me and wants to hear me pray to him "without ceasing" which I take to me daily and all day.  Whenever a person crosses my mind or a situation comes to mind, I pray.  My ultimate goal is to be His pray warrior.  I strive daily for this.  Some days I don't do so well - a hurried prayer before meals and bed - but other days I feel I live up to his directive and pray all through the day.  I ask you for your prayers that I do not forget my prayers.  Jewish men wear little "bobbles" on their clothing to help remind them to pray.  Maybe I need to get some and wear them daily to be reminded to lift up to the Lord ALL things.

    Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the
    everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He
    does not faint or grow weary, his understanding is
    unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who
    has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint
    and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they
    who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall
    mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be
    weary, they shall walk and not faint.

    He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not

    like a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so he opened
    not his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away;
    and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut
    off out of the land of the living, stricken for the
    transgression of my people? And they made his grave with the
    wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had
    done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. Yet
    it was the will of the Lord to bruise him; he has put him to
    grief; when he makes himself an offering for sin, he shall
    see his offspring, he shall prolong his days; the will of

Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love of
    the brethren, a tender heart and a humble mind.  Do not
    return evil for evil or reviling for reviling; but on the
    contrary bless, for to this you have been called, that you
    may obtain a blessing.  For "He that would love life and see
    good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips
    from speaking guile;  let him turn away from evil and do
    right; let him seek peace and pursue it.  For the eyes of

    do evil."

* I SURE  DIDN'T  TILL  NOW *

Death is certain but the Bible speaks about untimely death !

Make a personal reflection about this . .

Very interesting, read until the end . .

It is written in the Bible ( Galatians 6:7 ): ' Be not deceived; God is not mocked: For whatsoever a man soweth, That shall he also reap. '

Here are some men and women

Who mocked God :

* John * * * * Lennon * * ( Singer ): *

Some years before, during his interview with an American Magazine, he said:  ‘Christianity will end, it will disappear.  I do not have to argue about That. I am certain.  Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple, Today we are More famous than Him ' ( 1966 ).

Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times.

* Tancredo Neves * * ( President of Brazil ):

During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500,000 Votes from his party,not even God would remove him from the presidency.

Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he died.

* Cazuza *

* ( Bi - sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet ): *

During A show in Canecio ( Rio de Janeiro), While smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said: ' God, that's for you. '

He died at the age of 32 of AIDS in a horrible manner.

* * The man who built the Titanic * *

After the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be.   With an ironic tone he said:  '  Not even God can sink it '

The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic .

* Marilyn Monroe * (Actress) *

She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a Show. He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her.

After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said: ' I don't need your Jesus '.

A week later,she was found dead in her apartment

* * Bon Scott * * ( Singer ) *

The ex - vocalist of the AC / DC.

On one of his 1979 songs he Sang:

' Don't stop me,  I'm going down all the way, down the highway To hell '.

On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit.

* * Campinas * * ( IN 2005 ) *

In Campinas, Brazil, a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up A friend . . .The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried About the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the Daughter holding her hand,  who was already seated in the car:  ' My Daughter,  Go With God And May He Protect You. '

She responded: ' Only If He ( God ) Travels In The Trunk, Cause Inside Here - - - It's Already Full. '

Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a Fatal accident, everyone had died, the car could not be recognized or what type of car it had been, But surprisingly, the trunk was intact.

The police said there was no way the trunk could have Remained intact.

To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken .

* * Christine Hewitt * *

(Jamaican Journalist and entertainer)

Said The Bible ( Word of God )  was the worst book ever written.

In June 2006, she was found burnt beyond recognition in her Motor vehicle .

Many more important people have forgotten that there is no Other name that was given so much authority as the name of Jesus.

Many have died, but only Jesus died and rose again, and he Is still ALIVE .

*  ' Jesus ' *

Jesus said ' If you are embarrassed about me, I will also be embarrassed about you before my father. '

Bishop T.D. Jakes ' 8 Second Prayer. '

Just repeat this prayer and see how God moves !!

 'Lord, I love you and I need you,

come into my heart,

and Bless me,

my family, my home, and my friends,

in Jesus' name.

Amen.'

Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy steadfast love;
according to thy abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my
sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before
me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done that
which is evil in thy sight, so that thou art justified in
thy sentence and blameless in thy judgment.
Behold, I was
brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive
me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward being;
therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart. Purge me with
hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter
than snow. Fill me with joy and gladness; let the bones
which thou hast broken rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins,
and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart,
O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.
Cast me not
away from thy presence, and take not thy holy Spirit from
me. Restore to me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me
with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors thy
ways, and sinners will return to thee.

This touched my heart because if my spirit is not broken and contrite I can't imagine what else it'd take to break me.  Oh, LORD I pray for all my friends today that you bless them and grant them health and peace.  And take our broken spirits and bodies and minds and heal them.  Amen

Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. He committed no sin; no guile was found on his lips. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he trusted to him who judges justly.

Blog EntryIt's Raining Scripture!Feb 21, '08 9:59 AM
for everyone

All right, it's really raining and this is my scripture of the day.  I'm SO GLAD my brother Jesus came to the earth in human form to die for my sins (thank you Jesus).  And I will be even more glad when he returns for the 2nd time to gather his brothers and sisters home.  Are YOU one?  I AM!  PTL.

It's my little sister's birthday and we are taking her out to lunch and to have a "sister day" - people are running and screaming outside crying "The end is coming, the end is coming!" all the sudden for some reason.  Just becasue each "sister day" winds up in screaming, hitting and crying - and THAT's just the people we encounter - I don't know what is going on!!!!

I hope y'all have a good day!

But the scripture consigned all things to sin, that what was promised to faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. Now before faith came, we were confined under the law, kept under restraint until faith should be revealed. So that the law was our custodian until Christ came, that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a custodian; for in Christ Jesus you are all sons {and daughters} of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.         Galatians 3:22-29

Blog EntryScripture That Touched My HeartFeb 20, '08 11:48 AM
for everyone

This just touched my heart.  It sums up my own philosophy somewhat.  The only reason I'd like to be rich NOW (not all my life - that breeds selfishness, etc. - and if you're BORN rich and offended, wellllll tough!) is to correct wrongs - I'd take care of a family land situation that is a thorn in everybody's side (ok - just my and my little sister's), I'd have my grandpaw's house renovated with central heat and air and let my hubbies niece or her sister and family live there for free (i.e; we'd pay for the bills), pay my 10% to the LORD through my church, local soup kitchen, women's and children's shelter, etc., a LONG vacation to the Smoky Mountains, pay for my little sister and I to have a muscle/ tendon/ fascia release massage every week (we both have fibromyalgia) and a two week spa vacation, and many other things I use to put myself to sleep as in; "If I BECAME rich NOW I'd do THIS .........................................................................,  snnnnnn"  til I drift off and know no more!

Two things I ask of thee; deny them not to me before I die:
Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither
poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful
for me,
lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, "Who is the
Lord?" or lest I be poor, and steal, and profane the name of
my God.

    Proverbs 30:7-9

Blog EntrySome Scripture's I'd Like to ShareFeb 12, '08 8:03 PM
for everyone

These are some scriptures that have touched my heart recently.  You may have read about my recent troubles, so you will understand why these scriptures touched my heart!

As a hart longs for flowing streams, so longs my soul for thee, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.  When shall I come and behold the face of God?    Psalms 42:1-2  {Oh how I long to see the face of God.  Return tonight Dear Jesus.  Do not hold back from coming for YOUR people}.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.    Philippians 4:8 {This strikes my heart especially last nite, I really need to focus my mind on this}.

But I say to you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.  To him who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from him who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt.  Give to every one who begs from you; and of him who takes away your goods do not ask them again.  Luke 6:27-30 {I really need this as I am having trouble "loving" my last psych doc - I am very angry with him - a little explanation from him could have totally prevented the shame I went through - pray for me to forgive him}.

And he replied, "Who are my mother and my brothers?" And looking around on those who sat about him, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does the will of God is my brother, and sister, and mother."    Mark 3:33-35  {I really believe that this is what the world needs more of}.
