Well my poor baby Bijou still has that swelling under her lip, but if you recall the egg and starving wolverine story you know it hasn't effected her appetite.  Now she has some ointment to put on twice a day but I'm having trouble remembering to do it twice a day  (stop to put on ointment) and she is grooming it all over her fur and she looks like a drown rat!

Also I have this rash on my chest and abdomen and a little spot on my face.  It's been here about 2 or 3 weeks - you know how time just flows - and I can't see the doctor till next Tuesday.  And my hubbie comes home with a story about how this guy he knows went out to California and came back with a scratch and it was strep.  So he's grossed out by it and won't touch me!  My sister gave me some eczema cream and it seems to be helping.  Of course the rash will disappear next Monday.

There was something else I was going to blog about, but I have forgotted it!  My poor lil feeble mind is going!

My sister and her step daughter-in-law are having a garage sale soon and I'm trying to find stuff to give away.

It looks like we are going to be back in the same situation with my heart's daughter as we were last year.  Her mother isn't going to let her come over again.  Until it's convenient for her, then she'll let her come.  Her excuse is now that she wants to drive off every Sunday becasue he boyfriend is off that day so no one would be available for us to drop our granddaughter off with.  She can't wait for us to eat a sandwich after church and then drive over (it's a little over an hour's drive).  They could be eating lunch in town and then drive off after we got there.  She dropped a bombshell on me the other day.  She told me they are trying to get pregnant so she can have a baby on "the card" before they get married and she looses it!  This will be baby #4 from daddy #4!  I really think they should wait and make sure THIS relationship is going to last.  Oh I like the guy and I don't think he's gonna dump her - but you never know.  She has so many isms that it's hard for her to keep a relationship alive - of course she has picked real duds in the past and this guy seems to be ok.  He's really nice but I don't have high hopes of the relationship lasting yet!  Let's give it a year before she gets pregnant!  But kids - they are gonna do what they want to anyway!

Well, that's about all that's up with me except for the one thing i can't think of!

I thought of it!  I went back and labeled all those surveys and tests we circulate as "getting to know me".  So just in case you want to get to know me better or steal the idea so we can get to know you better - there it is!

Blog EntryHello peeps!Aug 19, '08 5:20 PM
for everyone

It fell a flood today.  Not that we don't need the rain - but not that much at one time - I had to set the timer to get my son off the bus but the rain stopped before it was time to get him off the bus.  He's excited his Bionicles package came in today.  I got new curtains for my son's room and I'm giving all his John Deere stuff to my great-nephew.  I almost won round 22 and 23 of The Last Word but missed out by one word!  Got to go grocrey shopping after Aquatic Therapy tomorrow.  Yeck!  Hubby will be gone to a seminar tomorrow - I think we'll go out to eat without telling him!  Well, I'm leaving you with some cute puppies!

for everyone

Went to church as usual - hubbie and son didn't go because son was "sick' - my hind leg!  Came home and slept till dinner time.  We had breakfast for supper last night - scrambled eggs and sausage and biscuits.  And when I put a piece of egg in my hammie's cage she jumped on it like a starving wolverine.  I was afraid to put my hand in the cage to get her out to play until she was finished!  Played with hamster -talked on phone with sister and the other came up and got her wreaths I was fixing.  Went to bed.  Boring day.

Today:  Got up and Multiplied.  Swung over to eBay.  Went to aquatic therapy.Went to Dollar General for buns - it's a manwhich night!    Came home and had a SECOND coke!  Don't tell!Looked up stuff on eBay for sister.  Didn't buy anything.  Multiplied again!  Need to put on laundry.  Shaping up to being a boring day!

PLEASE Go here to vote in the NBC Poll, while it's online: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10103521/

This is what you will be voting on:

Should the motto "In God We Trust" be removed from U.S. currency?

Yes. It's a violation of the principle of separation of church and state.
No. The motto has historical and patriotic significance and does nothing to establish a state religion.

Blog EntryBijouAug 11, '08 12:03 PM
for everyone

Well Bijou is back from the vets.  She had a little gas to see if anything could be expressed from the swelling.  But no luck.  The vet did do a culture in case it is a bacterial infection but she believes it's a glandular swelling and may come to a head where it could be expressed.  She had never seen anything like it on a hamster.  She did say her daughter had something similar and it took months to come to a head to be expressed.  This has been going on for over a month now.  She gave me some cortisone and antibiotic cream to put on it twice a day.  So Bijou will get woken up every morning.  I hope it doesn't make a grumpy Bijou!  She is so sweet natured, she let the vet do everything with her and didn't even think about biting!  But she's not a biter.  I wasn't going to say that becasue then she'd bite the heck out of the vet!  So hopefully this will fix her up.  Poor little thing with this big swelling under her lip.  But it doesn't stop her from eating.  The only diff in her behavior is that she wants to stay in my special hamster chewed shirt instead of exploring the couch.  I'll keep you up-to-date on the Bijou.  She really is a wonderful little girl!

I'm posting some more pictures of Bijou in her album!

Blog EntryWrite something nice about someone...Aug 9, '08 1:42 PM
for everyone

One day a teacher asked her students to list the
names of the other students in the room on two sheets of
paper, leaving a space between each name.
Then she told them to think of the nicest thing
they could say about each of their classmates and write it
down.

It took the remainder of the class period to
finish their assignment, and as the students left the room,
each one handed in the papers.

That Saturday, the teacher wrote down the name
of each student on a separate sheet of paper, and listed
what everyone else had said about that individual.

On Monday she gave each student his or her list.
Before long, the entire class was smiling.
'Really?' she heard whispered. 'I never knew
that I meant anything to anyone!' and, 'I
didn't know others liked me so much,' were most of
the comments.

No one ever mentioned those papers in class again.
She never knew if they discussed them after class or with
their parents, but it didn't matter. The exercise had
accomplished its purpose. The students were happy with
themselves and one another. That group of students moved
on.

Several years later, one of the students was
killed in
VietNam and his teacher attended the funeral of
that special student. She had never seen a serviceman in a
military coffin before. He looked so handsome, so mature.

The church was packed with his friends. One by one
those who loved him took a last walk by the coffin. The
teacher was the last one to bless the coffin.

As she stood there, one of the soldiers who acted
as pallbearer came up to her. 'Were you Mark's math
teacher?' he asked. She nodded: 'yes.' Then he
said: 'Mark talked about you a lot.'

After the funeral, most of Mark's former
classmates went together to a luncheon. Mark's mother
and father were there, obviously waiting to speak with his
teacher.

'We want to show you something,' his
father said, taking a wallet out of his pocket 'They
found this on Mark when he was killed. We thought you might
recognize it.'

Opening the billfold, he carefully removed two
worn pieces of notebook paper that had obviously been
taped, folded and refolded many times. The teacher knew
without looking that the papers were the ones on which she
had listed all the good things each of Mark's
classmates had said about him.

'Thank you so much for doing that,'
Mark's mother said. 'As you can see, Mark treasured
it.'

All of Mark's former classmates started to
gather around. Charlie smiled rather sheepishly and said,
'I still have my list. It's in the top drawer of my
desk at home.'

Chuck's wife said, 'Chuck asked me to put
his in our wedding album.'

'I have mine too,' Marilyn said.
'It's in my diary'

Then Vicki, another classmate, reached into her
pocketbook, took out her wallet and showed her worn and
frazzled list to the group. 'I carry this with me at
all times,' Vicki said and without batting an eyelash,
she continued: 'I think we all saved our lists'

That's when the teacher finally sat down and
cried. She cried for Mark and for all his friends who would
never see him again.

The density of people in society is so thick that
we forget that life will end one day. And we don't know
when that one day will be.

So please, tell the people you love and care for,
that they are special and important. Tell them, before it
is too late.

And One Way To Accomplish This Is: Forward this
message on. If you do not send it, you will have, once
again passed up the wonderful opportunity to do something
nice and beautiful.

If you've received this, it is because someone
cares for you and it means there is probably at least
someone for whom you care.

If you're 'too busy' to take those few
minutes right now to forward this message on, would this be
the VERY first time you didn't do that little thing
that would make a difference in your relationships?

The more people that you send this to, the better
you'll be at reaching out to those you care about.

Remember, you reap what you sow. What you put into
the lives of others comes back into your own.

May Your Day Be Blessed As Special As You

Good article.  I recently (several months ago) became convicted that I was NOT spending enough time with God - church aside - and now I read my Journey magazine and the scriptures included in there and then I read a chapter or two of the Bible.  I have finished the New Testament and the books of the Catholic Bible not included in the Protestant Bible and am now reading the Old Testament.  I am in Psalms.  I read a reference/study Bible and have learned a lot.  I wish I had done this sooner.  I mean I read the Bible and prayed daily - but I did not make a study of it.  And I wasn't regular about reading my Bible - I'd let it slide some nights which extended into weeks.  There are so many scriptures I have found that I could have used when I worked with a bunch of trolls.  These were really mean people with the objective of bringing me down.  I was dealing with this on my own and I can see if I had been reading the Bible regularly and studying it I would have been better prepared to deal with these people and instead of occasionally bring myself down to their level I could have been doing what the Lord WANTED me to do.  I'm now glad the Lord convicted me to STUDY the Bible.  It has helped me so much in forgiving those people and even going as far as forgetting what they did to me.  I encourage you to make a time to regularly study your Bible and spend time alone with the Lord.  For me it means going to bed early but for you it could mean getting up early.  I have made myself a written list of people to pray for instead of trusting my poor little memory.  This has help me immeasurably.  My next goal for myself is to regularly greet the Lord in the am with prayer.

Blog EntryWhat's for dinner?Aug 7, '08 5:37 PM

I'm having pork chops and sweet potatoes.  What else should I have?  Give lots of suggestions as I might not have what you suggest.  Thanks in advance!

What are you having?

but I ate around the venison.  Actually I ate one bite but didn't like it so I just ate the rice and sauce.  But the salad was nice - I brought it and the bread tasty so I came home stuffed.  We didn't do much Satudary - just a little reading and today we had to bring heart's daughter back to momma's.  I've finally got use to calling myself Meme instead of momma and the summer is over and it's time for her to go home.  Please pray that momma will let her come over on the weekend and miss granddaughter doesn't show her butt and make mama keep her home.  Of course after raising her for five years home still seems to be here, but I'm getting used to the idea that she isn't mine anymore.  On a happy note she took some of her toys home and hopefully I can get rid of some more without her noticing now that she'll be gone during the week.  And hey - I won a round on the Word Game.  See my last blog if you don't know what game I'm talking about then come and join us.  It's fun and challenging.  I'm thinking of starting a word association game - like I start with stop and you answer with go then the next person has to answer with a word associated with go that can't be stop.  What do you think?  Would tow games be too much?  Let me know how you feel.  Well gotta run now.  ONE MORE WEEK TILL SCHOOL STARTS!  YEAH!  No, no yeah - homework battles, battles over studying for tests - maybe I'm not so happy school is starting!  How are you feeling?

Pattecakes blogged about "Koolaid, Koolaid, Tastes Great!"  for Friday Five.  Oh how I remember that song.  We sang and drank all day long.  Except when momma worked and my older sister feed us topless peanut butter sandwiches (no jelly) and water while she ate a ham sandwich, french fires and drank koolaid.  Boy was she mean!

so to catch you up with everything.  Maxine our half rat terrier half chiuaua has bronchitis.  I give her her last does of antibiotic today, but she is still coughing.  I hope I don't have to give her more.  I have teeth marks from prying her mouth open!  Bijou still has the swelling under her lip - it's better, but still there and her antibiotics are finished yet.  I hope I don't have to give her more!  She looked like a drowned rat when I was giving her the antibiotics by hand.  I guess she just could groom the spilled antibiotic off.  She's on antibiotics in her water now.  Let's see, my granddaughter will be baptized this Sunday.  School starts week after next.  I've been going to aquatic therapy.  I'm trying to convince my little sister to go.  Her muscles are in knots and I think the warm water and exercise would loosen them.  Sky and Adoni and making their usual mess and noise.  My hubbie and I tried to have a romantic lunch Satudary but ended up bring our granddaughter.  I had the fatias (?) and they weren't as good as they usually are.  Go figure - my one time to eat somewhere besides McDonald's and it's bad.  We had pits last night - cajun roast beef and pinto beans soaked in Catalina french dressing.  Something was off - I think becasue I used a generic brand of dressing and not Kraft.  Well, other than my son and granddaughter fighting and my son's friend coming over and forgetting to go home that's about all there is to say.

My granddaughter made a profession of faith during Vacation Bible School.  She is 7.  She went before the church the day before we left for vacation and will be baptized either this Sunday or the next.  I am so glad for her and proud of her.  She also lost her two front bottom teeth during vacation.  She got $20 when we got back from vacation.  The Tooth Fairy sure gives more than when I was a child.  I got a quarter.  How much did you get?

Blog EntryOur New ParakeetsJul 22, '08 1:18 PM

These are our new parakeets we got about a week ago.  Their names are Sky and Adoni (aboriginal for Sunset).  They go off as alarm clocks about sunrise and make a huge mess.  And the taming of the parakeets has stopped after about 2 days.  My son and granddaughter have lost interest in them.  I bet it won't be long before I am taking care of them too.  I have given up on taking on any new pets.  I WON'T take care of them!  I WON'T, I WON'T, I WON'T.  I took over the hamster and got attached (you can see her pics in my photo album too).  I refuse to get attached to these birds!  You can see their pictures in photo album!

then we'll be gone to Galveston.  I'm washing clothes and packing today.  Lots to do.  Will have to prepare packets for feeding Bijou and write out instrutions for her antibiotics.  So next week I'll be out of touch.  Still need to buy snacks - if I buy them before they'll be all eaten!  My son's friend and my son are eating machines - they devor anything in sight!

Blog EntryWhat's been going on with me...Jul 8, '08 9:37 AM
for everyone

We went shopping and got some school clothes and shoes.  We had the grandson to get shoes for too.  Luckily out state income tax rebate finally arrived and we were able to pay for all of it.

I want some squash - nobody but me will eat it so I don't fix it often - but now I've got me a hankering for it.  Think I'll pick up some today.  I like to season and boil it then add crackers and cheese to it.  Or slow cook it the old way with bacon and onions.  Ummm!  I'm on Tricor now.  My cholesterol is fine but my triglycerides are up and my good cholesterol is practically low!  And there's nothing you can to to improve it!  I guess my body just doesn't want to make it!

I'm not ready for the trip yet - what I've bought has gotten lost!  I need to get more sunscreen.  We need a ton for us great white whales.  I mean we could give Moby Dick a run for his money!  Got pick up a few more things too.

I need new towels - think I'll get them for my anniversary - it's in ONE day!  We'll be married for 25 years!  I've got to see how much money I can spend on myself.  We've given up buying each other presents because no matter how detailed a description of what I want I give (I'm talking about circling pictures, naming the store, writing EXACTALY what it is) he brings home something that is similar to what I want but not it!!!  And he doesn't want anything - I really mean it.  He is so hard to buy for!

Well the parakeet taming is going about like I expected - NOT.  They gave up after trying to put thier hands in the cage about 3 times.  And since they are not tame yet they have given up!

We went to my bro-in-law's for hot dogs and briskets.  We watched the Nathan's International Hot dog Eating Contest.  The "wiener" ate 59 hot dogs to tie with a guy with orange hair fro Japan and then in a 5 dog eat off won.  He was the last year's winner and brought his belt to the eat off.  I tired to get the gang into a contest of our own but we were too full of watermelon to do it.  Then we came home and rested up to go to the church for burgers and hot dogs.  We had homemade ice cream.  The day was perfect except for no potato salad.  I really wanted some and now will have to make it on my own.  The church had rented a jumper and our granddaughter was not ready to come home when we were ready to leave.  She was still jumping!  Someone brought homegrown tomatoes and they were so good!  That's about it - gotta check on dinner!
